Parenting From Presence

Welcome to “Parenting from Presence,” a meditation and support group designed for parents, grandparents, caregivers, and anyone seeking to deepen their connection through awareness.

My Personal Parenthood Journey

Becoming a parent transformed me in ways I hadn’t anticipated. I remember feeling overwhelmed, trying to balance the demands of my two young sons with the desire to stay connected to who I was before. It wasn’t just about sleepless nights or endless diapers; it was the startling realization that my identity was shifting. My 30 year meditation practice was all but forgotten and my spiritual community gone. But in my lowest moments my practice became a lifeboat in a chaotic sea. Something started to shift – a remembering. This idea of returning to Presence became a beacon, guiding me back to my own sense of peace and secure attachment. Learning to parent from a place of presence allowed me to find peace amidst the chaos and to connect with my child on a profound level.

The Concept Behind “Parenting from Presence”

“Parenting from Presence” is grounded in the understanding that our deepest wisdom comes from being fully present. The foundation of this approach lies in non-dual meditation practices that help us tap into our ‘deep heart’ – a place of emotional sensitivity, relational intimacy, and profound inner knowing. When we rest in this awareness there is peace; it is the ultimate secure attachment. Being in this space supports all the “doing” we engage in as parents, caregivers and the multitude of other roles we inhabit. It is the essential foundation for a secure attachment with our children.

Dynamic Exploration

This group is an oasis in this chapter of life’s desert. We gather and rest in awareness, remember our true nature, and refuel to be present for our children. We explore what it means to parent from presence. The group framework includes meditation, check-ins, discussions and teachings, experiential exercises, and parenting support. We meet every other week in person, with online participation available to members who can’t join physically.
